Vic Mensa and The Chi Cast Feed the Block

This past Friday, Chicago came together in the spirit of care and compassion. Grammy-nominated artist, activist, and hometown hero Vic Mensa teamed up with some of the cast from Showtime’s The Chi to deliver high-quality meals to migrants and unhoused individuals as part of the Feed The Block initiative.

Meals, thoughtfully prepared at The Delta Chicago were distributed on the city’s South Side. It was a meaningful moment of connection as Vic, along with Jason Weaver, Luke James, Hannaha Hall, Jacob Latimore, and Cortez Smith, handed out meals to those in need.

Vic Mensa’s ties to Chicago run deep, from his upbringing in Hyde Park to his role as the founder of 93 Boyz, the first Black-owned cannabis brand in Illinois. Beyond business, he’s using his platform to bring real impact to the community, and this initiative is just one example of how he’s finding time to give back.

Feed the Block isn’t just a one-day effort. From November through February, the program has been providing meals weekly to Chicago’s unhoused and migrant communities. It’s a collective effort, with 93 Boyz bringing in partners like Sesh City Unlimited and Ice Mountain to make it all happen.

It’s inspiring to see this impact from local leaders to actors repping Chicago—step up to show love to the city in tangible ways. Friday’s effort was more than just a meal. It was a reminder of what happens when Chicago takes care of its own.
